One of the oldest houses in Orwell, dating from before 1500.
This house has been altered extensively over the centuries, but nevertheless the substantial timbers and the hall and crosswing layout are still evident. The hall has had a first floor inserted after it was originally built, and the chimney stack would also be more recent than the original build. The roof has been partly thatched, and partly tiled, but the reason for this mixture (see photos) is not evident.
